Happy Father’s Day to all the father figures in our communities!
Today is a day of mixed emotions. I miss my father as I do every single day but this day I miss him even more. He was my first great example of what a community servant should be. Thank you, papá, and although you are not here your presence guides me every single day.
This morning, much like the last three years, I am a witness to the love and commitment Eddie has for our son E.J. -The way our son looks into Eddie’s eyes, raises his arms for Eddie to pick him up, hugs him, kisses him, and of course, how they play and watch baseball together, I know is an unbreakable bond and I feel so fortunate to be a part of it.
But today, I am also heartbroken over the moral crisis our country is experiencing. Every father, every families should have the right to be together. The heartless actions by this administration are not who we are as a nation. Please join Eddie and I by calling your member of Congress and the White House to end these injustice policies separating families at the border and in our country. The number to call 1-888-704-9446.
With love and respect for all father figures!
